IPL 2022 | CSK vs PBKS | Match 11 - Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 juggernaut rolls on as the 11th game of the lucrative tournament sees Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squaring off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.

Both the teams will head into this clash on the back of defeats in their respective recent games. While CSK recorded their second consecutive loss of the season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Punjab Kings (PBKS) were handed a six wickets setback by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The Chennai batters did an excellent job, scoring 210 runs batting first. However, it was their bowling that was a huge letdown. Except for Dwayne Bravo and Dwaine Pretorius, no other bowler could manage to keep the LSG batters on the backfoot. They need to improve their bowling, especially against the hefty batting lineup of Punjab Kings, to claim their first win of IPL 2022 in this match.

On the other hand, PBKS were off to an excellent start to the IPL 2022 campaign. They beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their opening game after chasing down the target of 206 but were completely different outplayed by the Knights in the second game. Their batting, which has been proclaimed as one of the best this season, came on knees against KKR bowlers.

None of their batters could pass the 50-run mark. Their bowlers did a decent job in the initial hours of the second innings, but then the muscle-man of KKR, Andre Russell, had other plans for PBKS. He demolished Punjab's bowling lineup and smacked 70 runs off just 31 balls to help his side cross the finish line.

Coming to the points table, the Super Kings are placed at the 8th spot of the IPL 2022 standings, while Punjab Kings are sitting at a spot ahead of their opposition with a couple of points in their account.

Going into Sunday's clash, both Punjab and Chennai will be looking to win the game after registering a loss in their previous matches.

The deck at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, will favour the batters again, as it has been in the last couple of games. The quick bowlers will get an early swing, while spinners might come into the picture as the game progresses. We have seen 200 being chased in the last match played at this venue. Dew played a massive role in the previous game, and it will remain the same on Sunday. Both the teams will look to bowl first after winning the toss.

Injury Update/Players Availability

Chennai Super Kings: Rajvardhan Hangargekar may replace Tushar Deshpande.

Punjab Kings: Johnny Bairstow will be available for selection. However, it will be intriguing to see who he will replace in Punjab's batting lineup. Dropping Bhanuka Rajapaksa will not be a wise decision after the way he performed against KKR. Odean Smith might make a place for Bairstow. Also, Sandeep Sharma might replace Raj Bawa.

ICC Women's CWC | Ellyse Perry could play as a specialist batter in the World Cup final, says Meg Lanning

Ahead of the 2022 ICC Women's World cup final between Australia and England in Christchurch, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry's fitness has been a matter of concern as the 31-year-old couldn't feature in the last two games of the competition due to back issues. However, according to recent reports, Perry could play as a specialist batter in the final against England. Perry also went through some draining training sessions ahead of the final, scheduled on Sunday (April 3) at Christchurch. Two years back, Perry couldn't play in the knockouts of the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup at home, but the Aussies still managed to win the trophy. This time around, Perry is confident and committed that she will be able to break into the lineup in the final. Even Australian captain Meg Lanning has stated that their star all-rounder has looked impressive in her fitness test and is on the right path to making it to the final. "We feel like we'll have a full squad to pick from. Ellyse went through a hard and intense training session yesterday and today and is feeling good," Lanning told reporters during the pre-match conference. Perry got injured midway against South Africa about a fortnight back and hasn't bowled since then. On the other hand, the Sydney Sixers' stalwart's impressive batting average in the 50-over format gives enough proof of the talent and match-winning capabilities. "She can surely play as a batter, and at the moment, the plan is to play her as a batter. She hasn't bowled since the last two weeks, and it could be difficult for her to bowl in a final if she hadn't done that," the Aussie captain added. Perry could replace Annabel Sutherland if the all-rounder is fit to play. The Australians will be confident as they haven't lost a single game in this competition so far and would be looking to win their seventh World Cup title. On the other hand, England, who are the defending champions, would be determined to stop the Aussie juggernaut. It could be a thrilling encounter between the two arch-rivals

IPL 2022 | MI vs RR | Buttler, Chahal deliver magic as Rajasthan coast to stellar win

On double-header Saturday, Rajasthan Royals (RR) gathered their second win on the trot by defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 9th game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In a see-saw battle, the Royals defeated the MI by 23 runs. After being asked to bat first, RR suffered early setbacks in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal but had a rapid recovery as Jos Buttler led the onslaught. Buttler, with Sanju Samson, wasted no time to counter-attack as they set the tone for the batters to come. Basil Thampi's first over had carnage written all over it, with the Englishman racking up five successive boundaries. Samson channelled his inner beast and aided Buttler as Mumbai dealt with the offence. Soon, Pollard struck with the prized wicket of the Rajasthan skipper. Later, Shimron Hetmyer carried on with the charge and smashed his Caribbean teammate all over the park. Meanwhile, Buttler brought up his second IPL century off just 66 deliveries. However, his innings did slow a bit before Jasprit Bumrah bowled him. At one stage, RR eyed a total of more than 200 runs. But they were reduced to 193 with a flurry of wickets at the end. Mumbai, in reply, could reach only 170 runs and fell short of the target by a 23-run margin. Captain Rohit Sharma departed at the score of 10, while Anmolpreet Kaur was sent back for just five runs. Ishan Kishan had a quick start but eventually played a slowish 54-run knock. However, Tilak Varma's innings ignited the belief in the MI camp. The youngster took the challenge head-on and gave RR a run for their money. Tilak scored 61 runs off mere 33 deliveries, and it took a special ball from Ravichandran Ashwin to get the better of him. Yuzvendra Chahal provided the crucial wickets of Tim David and Daniel Sams, which almost made the match one-way from thereon. Pollard played until the last ball, but the West Indian power-hitter also failed miserably today, scoring 22 runs during his stay at the crease. With this win, the double-R's are enjoying the top position in the points table, while MI lies at the ninth spot, having lost their games thus far. Brief scores: Rajasthan Royals - 193/8 Jos Buttler-100(68), Shimron Hetmyer-35(14) Jasprit Bumrah-17/3; Mumbai Indians - 170/8 Tilak Varma-61(33), Ishan Kishan-54(43) Yuzvendra Chahal-26/2 Rajasthan Royals won by 23 runs
