IPL 2022 | CSK vs MI | Match 59 Preview, Predictions, Probable XI, CREX XI

Mumbai Indians (MI) will look to spoil the slight qualification chances of their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) when both the sides face each other in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Chennai Super Kings, who are standing on the brink of elimination, suffered another setback on Wednesday as their former skipper Ravindra Jadeja, who missed CSK's recent fixture against DC due to an injury, was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The four-time champions mathematically are still there in the playoff race, although their chances of qualification have almost vanished. Overall, the defending champions have managed to win just 4 out of 11 matches, and a win in this match will help them climb to the 6th spot.

They outplayed Delhi Capitals in their most recent encounter as they registered a massive 91-run win over them and must be looking to simulate the same performance on Thursday.

Mumbai Indians, who returned to the winning track against the Rajasthan Royals and followed it up against the table-toppers Gujarat Titans, failed to keep on their winning momentum as they lost their previous game against the Kolkata Knight Riders by a massive margin of 52 runs.

The five-time IPL winners have nothing to lose anymore, and hence they will look to spoil the game of their old rivals, who still possess some chances to make it to the top four.

CSK pacer Simarjeet Singh recalls snub from the U-19 Asia Cup squad

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Simarjeet Singh has recently recalled his ordeal when he was dumped out of India's squad for U-19 Asia Cup at the last moment. In a video uploaded by the CSK's official Twitter handle, Simarjeet recalled how he was left disheartened and depressed when he got a call ahead of the U-19 Asia Cup about his snub. The Delhi pacer got omitted from the squad at the final moment because he had already featured in the previous edition of the same tournament. U-19 cricketers can't feature in successive editions of a particular multi-national tournament according to rules. Nevertheless, the development left the young seamer discouraged, and his parents did everything at the time to lift his morale. "There was this one time, I was selected to play for India in the Asia Cup at the Under-19 level. The team was about to depart for the Asia Cup. Just one day before our departure, I received a call telling me that I cannot go to the Asia Cup," "It's because of some strange rule that barred those who played at the Under-19 level the previous year from playing again this year. Since I played at the Under-19 level the previous year, the selector cancelled my selection," he revealed. "I was supposed to take a flight early the following morning and I got a call very late at night telling me that I was no longer a part of the team. This disheartened me but my parents tried to pacify me by telling me that I should be proud to have gotten where I have," Singh added. Singh has come a long way since that snub. The Super Kings picked the right-arm pacer at a base price of INR 20 Lakh in the recent mega-auction. He has featured in three games thus far and has claimed two wickets. Singh's best performance so far has come against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he finished with match-winning figures of 2/27 in four overs.
