IPL 2022 | CSK Veteran crosses 4000 runs, becomes 10th Indian to do so

Ambati Rayudu has been an underrated cricketer for most of his career. One would assume that a batter with an ODI batting average of 47 and a first-class average above 45 would be a certainty in the team, but the reality could not be further from that.

The story is different in the IPL, though. Rayudu has grabbed his opportunity with both hands when it comes to the Indian Premier League. The Andhra batter has now played 181 IPL matches and has scored 4044 invaluable runs, playing for Mumbai Indians and then the Chennai Super Kings.

In his last match against the Gujarat Titans, Rayudu scored 46 runs off just 31 deliveries, during which he crossed the landmark of 4000 IPL runs. Only 9 Indian players and 3 foreign players - apart from the 36-year old CSK batter - have managed to achieve this feat so far. The list includes the who’s who of the cricket fraternity. In his illustrious career, the Andhra veteran has amassed 18937 first-class runs across all formats. And his fans would certainly hope that he has more left in the tank.
