IPL 2022 | BCCI set to announce venues for the IPL Playoffs: Reports

As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will shortly announce Eden Gardens as the venue for Qualifier 1 as well as the Eliminator of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. We have also learned that Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is set to be the venue for the Final. Meanwhile, Qualifier 2 will also take place in the new Ahmedabad facility.

The decision will be announced in a few days' time after the IPL Governing Council’s meeting. A lot depends on the ongoing Covid situation; if the circumstances do not change, this is the plan that BCCI is likely to execute in the upcoming month.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has made a formal request to the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council to consider Lucknow’s new stadium as one of the venues for the playoff games.

Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium is one of the latest facilities in the country. Still, it looks highly unlikely that the BCCI or IPL Governing Council will accept the proposal put forward by the UP Cricket Association.

IPL 2022 has been different than usual this time around, with two new entrants in Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Meanwhile, the two most successful franchises - Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super King - have struggled so far, and it has been a roller coaster ride for all the teams.

However, the four-time champions will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore to snap their first win in an enthralling encounter tonight (April 12) at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.
