Injury worry for England as Ben Stokes misses Tuesday's training session

The England national team is currently flying high on the back of their recent performances against New Zealand and the Netherlands.

However, they could be dealt with a major injury blow ahead of the Headingley Test match. If the latest reports are to be believed, their current Test skipper Ben Stokes was not part of Tuesday's training session, the reason being an undisclosed illness.

Although Stokes has missed out on the practice, he could still make it to the playing XI for the Headingley Test match against New Zealand, starting June 23.

England has already sealed the ongoing Test series after gaining an unassailable lead of 2-0 at Nottingham. Stokes was one of the architects of the record run-chase of 299 runs against the Kiwis.

The 31-year-old has been instrumental to England's success in the last two red-ball matches, and he has been thriving under the leadership responsibilities. In the two matches so far, Stokes has amassed 176 runs at an impressive average of 58.67. Along with his batting exploits, Stokes has claimed three wickets as well.

In case the southpaw finds it tough to recover, England could be in a sticky situation, especially when it comes to finding a replacement.

Former skipper Joe Root could come back to lead the side, while one of the Overton brothers, Craig and Jamie, could feature in the starting XI.
