India's tactical changes were too much: Rashid Latif

With two World Cups in the next 12 months, Indian team management is still figuring out their best XI going ahead. The recent T20I series against England was no different, where head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma continued their experimentation spree, which saw Rishabh Pant be utilised as an opener.

Yet to play a constant XI, Team India sees several changes in every match, with senior players being rested and youngsters being given caps against lesser opponents.

However, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif seems to find too much experimentation a hindrance. Speaking on his YouTube Channel, Latif said,

"You are playing Rishabh Pant in the top order, but he is a dangerous player lower down the order. Anybody can play in the Powerplay. Nine out of the top ten ranked batters are openers. Match hota hai neeche se (Game happens in lower middle order). If Shreyas Iyer is scoring 28 in the lower order, it is far better than going at the top and scoring 30 runs,"

"I felt India's tactical changes were too much. They should have won 3-0, looking at the form they were going through. When you get that sort of hold in a series, you should never let it get away. That is something that is there in Australia."

Apni team kharab kar rahe hai yeh: Latif

India has changed their playing eleven ever since Dravid became head coach, with all eyes set on the ICC T20 World Cup Down Under in sight.

The former keeper-batter also questioned this approach, saying it is only spoiling the side.

"Apni team kharab kar rahe hai yeh. It does not happen like that where you place a player over Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul. A team is made based on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Sometimes a player is off form. When these players are off-form, then you give others responsibility. Now, nobody is taking responsibility. Now, if the team loses, the responsibility is on Kohli or Rohit."

Rohit Sharma-led side will play their first match of the 3-ODI series against England this evening at The Oval.

Former India skipper Virat Kohli is set to miss out due to a groin strain.
