India are all set to take on Australia in the upcoming three-match ODI series. The Men in Blue are high on confidence after recently winning their eighth Asia Cup title. This series will serve as the final rehearsal for both teams ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, which is just around the corner.
For the first two ODIs, India will be without some of their top players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav, who have been rested. KL Rahul will captain the side during these games until Rohit and Co. return for the third ODI.
Their go-to fast bowlers are sticking around for all three ODIs. Meanwhile, R Ashwin is back in the ODI squad after a year and a half, thanks to Axar Patel's unavailability. If Axar fails to complete his recovery in time for the World Cup, it will eventually come down to Ashwin vs. Washington Sundar for the reserve spinner.
On the other hand, Australia is getting their powerhouse trio back in the mix with Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell returning. However, they suffered a big blow as Travis Head ruled out of this series due to a fractured hand and his availability in the ICC World Cup 2023 is also under jeopardy.
