In a significant achievement, India will play its 250th T20I match against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on September 19, 2025 (Today).

India's journey in the shortest format began in 2006, and with consistent performance, the team has transformed into one of the most dominant forces. It is important to mention that India currently have 171 wins, 71 losses, 1 tie, and 6 no results in 249 T20Is, with a win percentage of 68.67%. 1st T20I – December 1, 2006 , Johannesburg

It is vital to note that India’s T20I journey began under Virender Sehwag. The former star player led the side to a 6-wicket win over South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium.

50th T20I – March 28, 2014, Dhaka

In India's 50th T20I match, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the 2014 T20 World Cup. 

Ashwin starred with the ball and was the star performer for India. While Rohit Sharma (56 off 44) and Virat Kohli (57 off 50) anchored the chase with the bat. 

100th T20I – March 12, 2018, Colombo

India played its 100th T20I match against Sri Lanka. Talking about the match, India clinched a 6-wicket win in the Nidahas Trophy. Shardul Thakur’s 4/27 helped restrict Sri Lanka, while Manish Pandey (42* off 31) sealed the win.

150th T20I – October 24, 2021, Dubai

India suffered a heavy loss to Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup and this was India's 150th T20I encounter. In the match, Virat Kohli fought hard with a 57-run knock, but Babar Azam (68)* and Mohammad Rizwan (79)* cruised Pakistan home without losing a wicket.

200th T20I – January 5, 2023, Pune

India faced Sri Lanka and lost by 16 runs in the 200th T20I match. Dasun Shanaka was the star performer with a blazing 56* and two wickets.

250th T20I – September 19, 2025, Abu Dhabi

India, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, will play their last group-stage match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. This game is more special for the 'Men in Blue' as they will play their 250th T20I match.

India will enter this match undefeated, having won both of its matches so far and currently sits at the top of the points table.
