India register their fifth T20I win in England, here are four other wins on English soil

After a dramatic loss in the rescheduled Test match at Edgbaston, the Men in Blue bounced back with a dominating performance in the first T20I match against England. The team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma outplayed the hosts in all the departments of the game. 

India opted to bat first after winning the toss. The visitors posted a mammoth total of 198 runs on the board. While the middle-order batters for India were decent in their trade, Hardik Pandya top-scored for the team with 51 runs off 33 balls.

India delivered a top-notch performance with the bowl dismissing the opposition for 148 runs in the final over of the game. Hardik was brilliant with the ball, taking four wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. 

India won the match by a margin of 50 runs. It was India's fifth win in ten matches in England. Here we take a look at all the instances in which India registered a win on English soil in the shortest format of the game. 

1. Win by 25 runs vs Bangladesh, 2009: It was a group stage match of the 2009 T20I World Cup. India batted first in the match and registered 180 runs in their quota of 20 overs. 

Gautam Gambhir was the team's top scorer, scoring 50 runs off 46 deliveries. But it was Yuvraj Singh's 41 off 18 deliveries that helped India reach the formidable total.

Pragyan Ojha led the unit in the bowling effort, picking up four wickets for 21 runs in his four overs. India restricted the 'Bangla Tigers' to 155 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs and won the match by 25 runs.

2. Win by eight wickets vs Ireland, 2009: In the group stage of the 2009 T20I World Cup, India dominated the Irish team to win the match by eight wickets. 

In a game that was reduced to 18 overs a side, Ireland batted first and posted a total of 112 runs.

India went past the moderate total losing only the wickets of Gambhir and MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma played a steady knock of 52 runs from 42 balls, opening the innings for the team. 

3. Win by eight wickets vs England, 2018: The hosts batted first in the match and registered a par total of 159 runs in their 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the Indian bowling picking up five wickets for 24 runs from his four overs. Jos Buttler was the highest run-scorer for England, scoring 69 runs off 46 deliveries. 

India's batting effort was led by a brilliant century by KL Rahul. The batter came in at number three and played a brilliant knock of 101 runs off 54 balls. Courtesy of the explosive knock by Rahul, India won the match by eight wickets with ten balls to spare. 

4. Win by seven wickets vs England, 2018: In the decider of the 2018 series, India won a thriller against the hosts. Batting first in the match, England put up a formidable total of 198 runs on the board in their 20 overs. 

While the whole batting line-up contributed for the team, Jason Roy was the highest scorer for England with 67 runs from 31 balls. However, Hardik was the star for India with the ball in this match also. He picked up four wickets for 38 runs in his four overs.

Rohit Sharma led the chase for India, scoring 100 runs off 56 deliveries and remaining unbeaten. He was aided by fiery cameos by Virat Kohli (43 runs off 29 balls) and Hardik (33 off 14 balls). India won the match by seven wickets with eight balls to spare and the series with it.
