Indian opener Ishan Kishan has been officially ruled out of the final T20I match between India and Sri Lanka. The left handed opener was struck on the head by a nasty Lahiru Kumara bouncer in the second innings of the game and looked dazed for a little while.
Reports came out late on Saturday that Kishan was taken to a nearby hospital and admitted to the ICU for scans - a standard practice for concussion protocol. Kishan was released from the hospital after his CT scan returned normal results, but has been kept under observation by the Indian for concussion symptoms.
Kishan has been an integral member of the Indian team and is pushing for the opening spot in the T20 World Cup which will be held later this year in Australia. In Kishan's absence, Sanju Samson will possibly take up the keeping gloves and if the Indian team permits, bat at the top alongside Rohit Sharma. Samson has been opening for his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals for a while now and has seen success last season.
India were in glorious form with the bat on Saturday evening at Dharamshala, chasing down a big target of 184 runs in just 17.1 overs. After Kishan's departure, Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja took over and blasted the opposition to put up an unbeaten partnership of 58 runs off just 28 balls.
