Although Team India won the second T20I against Sri Lanka on Saturday, Indian youngster Ishan Kishan got hit with a huge blow as he has sustained a head injury, after which he was rushed to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
Kishan was hit on the helmet by the Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara, who bowled a deadly bouncer in the fourth over of the second innings.
After being hit, the left-handed opener went through the mandatory concussion check. The southpaw continued his innings after the nasty incident before he was sent packing by Kumara himself, in the sixth over, on 16 off 15 balls.
A doctor, who is connected with the Indian team, reported that Kishan has been brought to his hospital.
"I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation," said the doctor.
Apart from Ishan Kishan, Sri Lanka batter Dinesh Chandimal has also sustained a thumb injury while he was fielding and he was also taken to the hospital for further assessment.
"A Sri Lankan player has also been admitted in the hospital, after receiving a thumb injury in the second T20I. We are monitoring everything right now," the alleged doctor further shared.
However, as per reports by Dainik Jagran, the 23-year old has been discharged from the hospital but he is unlikely to play in the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
As far as the second T20I is concerned, Shreyas Iyer scored a swashbuckling 74* before Ravindra Jadeja smashed an 18-ball 45 to take India home in Dharamshala.
With the series already in India’s back pocket, the Men in Blue could check their bench strength in the third and last T20I match, scheduled to be played tonight (27 February 2022).
