IND vs SA | 2nd T20I | Kagiso Rabada becomes second fastest Protea to take 50 T20I wickets

In the ongoing 2nd T20I match between India and South Africa at Cuttack, Kagiso Rabada has added another milestone to his career.

The fast bowler has reached 50 T20I wickets in his 42nd appearance for the Proteas. He made his T20I debut against Australia in November 2014 and since then, has been a key bowler across all the formats.

In this pursuit, the 27-year-old became the second fastest Proteas player to pick up 50 wickets.

The quickest to achieve this milestone from the South Africa team was Imran Tahir in 2017 against New Zealand, which was his 31st T20I match. The game witnessed Tahir finishing with figures of 5/24.

It all transpired in the fifth ball of the first over, wherein the opener Ruturaj Gaikwad played a loose shot and got holed out to Keshav Maharaj for 1 off 4 balls.

Rabada bowled two overs in the powerplay and conceded only four runs, and has been the most economical bowler of the Proteas team.

The home team attacked other bowlers and started off on a fine note, with Ishan Kishan scoring 34 off 21 balls, comprising two fours and three sixes. Then, Iyer started to pounce on the bad balls and helped the team to get the much-needed momentum.

However, the Indian captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed by Keshav Maharaj for 5 off 7. The likes of Iyer and Hardik Pandya were soon dismissed as well, leaving the team reeling at 109/5 at the end of the 16th over.

With Cuttack having a batting-friendly surface, the knocks of the batters like Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel might be important for India to post a substantial total on the board.
