IND vs ENG | We will be looking to them to bring that energy: Matthew Mott

England vs India: England won the 3rd T20I by 17 runs and avoided a whitewash. However, India won the series 2-1 as England skipper Jos Buttler registered his first win as permanent white-ball captain.

Matthew Mott, England's new white-ball coach, was impressed by Buttler's captaincy despite losing the series.

"Obviously, we've been tested with a couple of losses, but that's when you find out a lot about people, and the character he has shown has been great," Mott said.

He added that he and Buttler had built a good rapport. As both of them have recently undertaken new positions, it will take time, but they are slowly getting there and building stuff.

The hosts now face India for the 50-over format starting on Tuesday. It will be a three-match series. England's new red ball captain, Ben Stokes, and in-form batters Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow will be part of the series.

Matthew Mott added, "Coming off the back of a win; it will be even better; we will be looking to them to bring that energy they've had in the Test series."

The England white-ball squad is excited to have all these players again in the different jersey. The players are 'excited' to be reunited.

He expects Root, Bairstow and Stokes to bring the same momentum to this group, build on that and continue playing the same brand of cricket with this squad.

In the 3rd T20I, England bounced back and posted a massive total of 215 on board. Despite getting India's top-order out, Surya Kumar Yadav's terrific ton kept England under pressure till the end.

However, Matthew praised the England side as he felt,

"I was really pleased with the way our bowlers held their nerve. It's exactly what we've been talking a lot about, executing under pressure, and I thought we stood up really well today."

As England go to the ODI series on a winning note, and with some experienced players coming into the squad, they will wish to continue the same resilience and play cricket of their standards against India.
