APL 2022 | GOD vs BZW | Bezawada Tigers roar to hand Godavari Titans a six-wicket defeat

As it happened, Bezwada Tigers (BZW) brought home the bacon, conquering the Godavari Titans (GOD) challenge successfully in the 10th match of the Andhra Premier League (APL) 2022.

Notwithstanding Godavari Titans' decent run in the tournament, today they proved to be duck soup for Bezawada Tigers, who pranced their way to a comfortable six-wicket win.

As the Titans' decision to bat first massively backfired, it told a story of their batting predicament. The Tigers' bowlers were head and shoulders above their opposition in the first innings.

While M Hemanth Reddy did well enough to hand the Titans a good start in the powerplay, his dismissal meant that the team invited early woes due to their inconsistent batting unit.

With Bandaru Ayyappa, KP Sai Rahul and Lalith Mohan striking consistently for BZW, the KV Sasikanth-led outfit failed to recover. The farthest a partnership could reach was 26 runs for the second wicket of Reddy and Mamidi Vamsi Krishna.

As a result, it led to an early end to the innings as the Titans folded at 119 runs in 18.5 overs.

Although Yeddala GK Reddy dismissed K Maheep Kumar in the fifth over, the second wicket-stand between Bodapati and Pyla Avinash ensured it was all over for the Titans. The partnership lasted for 59 runs, out of which Avinash contributed 46.

Yadla Vasu did delay the inevitable, claiming three scalps, including Avinash. However, as the target was a meagre one, it took only 17.2 overs for BZW to cross the finishing line despite all the hurdles that came their way.

Sumanth ended the game with a six as he and Rahul remained unbeaten at 29 and two runs, respectively, taking their side home with six wickets to spare.
