ILT20 performances will not be recorded on players' T20 records

The International League T20 has attracted some of the biggest names in world cricket but none of their efforts in the tournament will go down on their official T20 records.

As per the ICC guidelines, competitions hosted by the non full-members cannot get the List-A status. No exemption will be made for the cash-rich tournament in UAE, set to take place this month.

As a result, none of the major T20 records will be broken in ILT20 tournament.

"The UAE ILT20 has been sanctioned by the ICC but List-A T20 status will not be granted to this event as it does not meet the criteria in the regulations," an ICC spokesperson told The Cricketer.

It is not the first time a new T20 venture has experienced such a glitch. The Global T20 Canada, which was scheduled for June-July 2018, was not recognised as a major T20 tournament.

The FairBreak international - a women's competition hosted in Dubai last year - was also not given the status.

The ILT20 League will permit up to nine overseas players per side - with several Indian Premier League franchises owing the teams. The competition is set to start from January 13.
