ICC women's rankings: Indian and Sri Lankan players make big gains

The three-match T20 international series between India and Sri Lanka significantly changed the ICC rankings for women. Players from both sides made valuable contributions to their respective sides, which helped them climb up the ladder in the rankings.

Chamari Athapaththu was one of the star performers in the recently concluded series, and she climbed up the ranking by one spot, moving up to seventh with a career-high rating of 664.

The Southpaw was in brilliant form with the bat during the three-match T20I series against India, where she accumulated 139 runs at an impressive average of 69.50. Her scores in the T20I series were 16, 43 and 80* in the three matches.

However, there was a bit of disappointment in the Indian camp as India's swashbuckling opener Shafali Verma lost two spots, dropping down to fifth after her disappointing performances against Sri Lanka. She managed a total of 53 runs in three outings.

But on the other hand, left-arm spinner Radha Yadav impressed with her bowling, scalping four wickets in three matches at an average of 19.50. Her performances saw her gain seven spots as she rose to 13th in the rankings, while Sri Lanka's Oshadi Ranasinghe also saw a jump in her ranking as she took five wickets during the series, which saw her move up 11 spots to joint 26th in the rankings.

All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar, who has been impressive recently, moved up 30 spots to 32nd after picking up two wickets during the series. Inoka Ranaweera, the leading wicket-taker in the series with six scalps, has gained 16 places to move up to 47th.

In the all-rounders' chart, Athapaththu, Harmanpreet Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar and Kavisha Dilhari climbed up the ranks. While Athapaththu gained two spots up to No.7, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur moved up five spots rising to joint 23rd after scoring 92 runs and picking up one wicket during the series. Pooja Vastrakar gained 16 places to move to 35th, while Kavisha Dilhari, who scored 56 runs, moved up 38 spots to 47th overall.
