ICC Women’s CWC 2022 | NZ-W vs IND-W | Match 8, Preview, Predictions, Fantasy XI

On March 10, 2022, a mouth-watering clash awaits us as the hosts, New Zealand Women lock horns against India Women at Seddon Park, Hamilton. It will be the hosts' third game for the tournament, while India will play their 2nd game after defeating arch-rivals Pakistan Women convincingly in their latest encounter.

The White Ferns are currently stationed fifth in the points table, whereas the Women in Blue are third.

New Zealand tasted success in their last game as they defeated Bangladesh Women by a comfortable margin of 9-wickets in a rain-curtailed match. Suzie Bates regained her form with the willow in hand while Amy Satterthwaite showed her value with the ball. Amelia Kerr and Frances Mackay offered valuable contributions too.

The Kiwis beat India Women 4-1 in the recently concluded ODI series and must be high on confidence for the encounter. However, with the players stepping in for the team at the right time, they shouldn’t change their playing XI for this match.

“Seddon Park is one the spinners tend to look forward to when the list of venues comes out. We are looking forward to getting out there. We do play India there. I am sure that their spinners will also be looking forward to getting something that offers little more purchase than the Queenstown and the John Davies Oval. Yeah, can’t wait to get started and get into there. I mean spinners playing such a big role in this World Cup and I also hope to play a big role. Definitely, Seddon Park is one for that and pick a couple out there.” - Frances Mackay in an interview with the local media.

“I think the Hamilton pitch will suit us with the shorter boundaries as well, especially short straight suits us. We love playing cricket there and we had some success against India in the past in particular so it’s a nice ground for us to play as a team” - Suzie Bates in the same interview.

India Women are over the moon after their victory against the rivals, Pakistan Women by a huge margin of 107-runs. Although Smriti Mandhana scored fifty while opening the batting, the middle order is a concern for Team India. If not for the lower-order duo of Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar scoring fifties, the result could have been different.

Talking about bowling, Rajeshwari Gayakwad continued her form by picking up a four-for in the last game. Veteran Jhulan Goswami is always hard to score off. Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma are the other bowlers who support the main wicket-takers.

“Well definitely because that was the plan before the World Cup to acclimatize with this condition and with these wickets and play fresh in this World Cup. Tomorrow’s game is totally a different ball game. It’s a fresh game and it’s a World Cup game. And definitely looking forward as a unit and making sure that we do well” - Jhulan Goswami said in the pre-match press conference.

Pitch Report

The Seddon Park pitch might help the seamers early on but as the match progresses the spinners will like to bowl here. It has short boundaries. Straight boundaries are shorter compared to square boundaries. With short boundaries, batters will lick their lips out here. The last match played here was a high-scoring thriller and we expect something similar to that in this big clash as well. A toss-winning captain might chase here as the pitch will remain the same throughout the game. The average score batting first is 275.

Weather Conditions

According to the weather reports, the rain will stay away from this encounter, and it will be sunny in the afternoon and clear skies at night.
