India's Surya Kumar Yadav went past Pakistan skipper Babar Azam in the latest ICC T20 Rankings for Batters released by International Cricket Council (ICC). Yadav, fifth in the rankings last week, achieved a career-best second position after his whirlwind knock of 69 runs against Australia in the third T20I at Hyderabad.
Yadav (801) is now only behind Pakistan's wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan, who occupies the numero uno spot with 861 points. Behind Azam (799) are South Africa's Aiden Markam (792) and Australia's Aaron Finch (707), who finish off a solid top-five.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli, too, gained a position, going past Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz to the 15th spot, courtesy of his match-winning knock of 63 runs against Australia on Sunday. Out of form, KL Rahul dropped a few places to the 22nd spot, after a string of failures, despite making a 55 off 35 at Mohali.
Skipper Rohit Sharma continues to occupy the 13th position with 613 points.
India's bowling spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar dropped to the 10th spot in the ICC T20I Rankings for bowlers after another disappointing outing.
Axar Patel, who spun a web around Australian batters, picking up eight wickets in three matches, gained the most amongst the bowlers, moving to 18th position from 29.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also leaped frogged to the 26th spot in the Rankings.
