West Indies Cricket Fined - (Source :@WindiesCricket/X.com)
In a significant development, the West Indies have dealt a blow as the Men in Maroon have been penalised by the ICC for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia in the fourth T20I. Notably, the International Cricket Council has found the Shai Hope-led side guilty of being two overs short after the time allowance to complete an innings.
ICC Slaps West Indies With Heavy Fine
The ICC has sanctioned the West Indies with a 10% fine of their match fees as the players are fined 5% of their match fees for every over lost, resulting in a 10% fine. Skipper Shai Hope pleaded guilty to the offence in front of the match referee.
"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," wrote the ICC in their press release.
Nothing Going In West Indies' Favour Against Australia
Things are not going in favour of the Windies as the Shai Hope-led side are yet to register a win in this tour. Firstly, the Caribbean side suffered a whitewash in the three-match Test series and are now struggling for a solitary win in the five-match T20I series and trail 0-4.
Talking about the fourth T20I, Windies lost the match despite putting 205 runs on the board. The visitors were too good for the hosts as Tim David's century helped Australia seal a three-wicket win.
The fifth and final match of the series will take place on July 29 at Werner's Park in the USA. Notably, the fourth match also took place in the USA, as it is also a way to promote the sport in the States.
