Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj could face disciplinary consequences for his behaviour in the ongoing Test match against England at Lord's Cricket Ground. Siraj gave a violent send off to English opener Ben Duckett, which could lead to an ICC sanction after the game concludes.

Mohammed Siraj Gets Carried Away After Dismissing Ben Duckett

The incident occurred during the sixth over of England's second innings when India desperately needed someone to break the opening stand and provide a breakthrough. With both teams eyeing supremacy in the fascinating contest, Siraj drew the first blood for India, getting Duckett's prized scalp.

It was a back-of-the-length delivery from Siraj as Duckett mistimed it, getting caught by Jasprit Bumrah in the on-side. As the English opener started making his way back to the hut, Siraj aggressively went near him, giving him a heated send-off. The fast bowler also brushed his shoulder with the Englishman while celebrating the dismissal.

Why Could ICC Penalise Mohammed Siraj?

The International Cricket Council (ICC), in article 2.5 of its Code of Conduct for players and support personnel, clearly prohibits a player from any action that can provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal. Thus, Siraj, who yelled at Duckett's face and had a physical contact with the English batter in this process, might be found guilty of violating the aforementioned rule.

If found guilty, Siraj might witness a hefty fine being imposed on him by the ICC. The fast bowler was reprimanded for a similar conduct in India's second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Besides penalising him 20 per cent of his match fees, the ICC handed one demerit point to Siraj after the game concluded.
