ICC Men's Test Rankings | Virat Kohli drops out from Top 10 for the first time in six years

The latest ICC men's test rankings have seen sharp rises and tumbles simultaneously. After his outstanding performance in the one-off-Test against England, Rishabh Pant stormed into fifth place in the batters' rankings. He scored a belligerent 146 in the first innings and followed it up with an impressive 57 in the second innings.

However, the biggest upset was when star Indian batter Virat Kohli dropped three places to 13th in the batting rankings owing to a prolonged loss of form and a string of poor performances. This is the first time he hasn't featured in the top ten since 2016.

Kohli had a forgettable outing against England as he only managed scores of 11 and 20 against England.

Pant has been in great form with the bat in recent times. He has scored two tons and three half-centuries in his past six Test innings, which earned him his highest-ever position in the Test batting rankings, moving six places to fifth.

Joe Root, who has overtaken the other fab four with multiple centuries in the longest format (28), continues to hail supreme at the top of the rankings. An unbeaten century (142*) in England's record chase at Edgbaston sees him attain his highest rating points (923). It also puts the former England captain in the elite list of top 20 highest-rated batters in ICC Rankings history.

Jonny Bairstow, who has been the epitome of England's newest approach to Test cricket, helped guide his side to a stunning fourth-innings triumph over India with an unbeaten 114. Owing to his recent batting exploits against New Zealand followed by India, he has moved into the top ten of the Test batting rankings.

The wicket-keeper batter is arguably in the finest form of his career with four tons in his past three Tests, including dual centuries in the rescheduled Test against India, after reaching three figures in consecutive matches against New Zealand. Bairstow has 1218 runs at an average of 55.36 with six centuries in the current ICC World Test Championship cycle.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has maintained his place at the top of the all-rounder rankings in Tests. He is closely followed by Ravichandran Ashwin, who is second. Jadeja has been in some form with the bat, which he continued in the one-off Test against England, scoring a magnificent 104 in his historic partnership with wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

James Anderson climbed one spot to sixth in the Test ranking for bowlers. The senior pacer played his part to keep England in the contest in the recent Test against India with a five-for in the first innings and now has 17 wickets in three Tests since his recall.

Meanwhile, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has been rewarded for taking nine wickets in the first Test against Sri Lanka with a rise of five spots to 13th.
