ICC Announces Prize Money For Winner of WTC Final 2023

India and Australia are set to lock horns with each other in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) starting from June 7 at the iconic Oval stadium.

This will be India's second consecutive WTC Final, having played two years ago in the inaugural edition against New Zealand. With the contest set to go underway in just about two weeks time, the International Cricket Council has announced the prize money for the winner of the WTC Final.

The winner of the second edition of the World Test Championship will get a whopping $1.6 million (13.23 crore), while the runners-up will receive $800,000 (6.61 crore).

There is no change in the total prize money of the tournament, with a total prize of $3.8 million. The third, fourth and fifth placed team, South Africa, England, and Sri Lanka will receive 3.72 crore, 2,89 crore and 1.65 crore respectively.

New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan, the three teams had a mediocre campaign and will get a prize money of 82.65 lakh.

Talking about the WTC points table, Australia finished at the top, with 11 victories. Meanwhile, India finished just behind the Aussies, with 10 wins under their belt.

The last time India and Australia squared off against each other in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the home team (India) won the series 2-1.
