I am playing IPL and focusing on it: Pandya on potential India comeback

Indian star all-rounder and Gujarat Titans skipper, Hardik Pandya, has expressed his views on a potential India return.

Pandya has been in spectacular form since the beginning of the Indian Premier League, delivering one triumph after another. He has performed consistently for his side and has delivered with both the bat and ball. Pandya is the third-highest run-scorer this season and looks like a rejuvenated version of himself.

Under Pandya's captaincy, the Titans currently sit on top of the points table, with six wins out of the possible seven. The skipper was praised by teammates and cricket pundits for his captaincy skills. Some have even opined that a future India men's team skipper is in the making.

However, Pandya stated that captaincy's responsibility has added flair to his performance and that captaincy is the reason for his success. He said that he loves taking on extra responsibility.

“Captaincy obviously helps. I’m always a cricketer who loves to take responsibilities. I have a bit of understanding of the game having batted for so many years,” he said.

Hardik Pandya, who was out of the Indian squad due to his prolonged back injury, has been making waves in the IPL. Thanks to his consistent performance, talks are in the air about his potential comeback to the Indian squad. However, the GT skipper has dismissed any concerns and said that he is focusing solely on the present.

"I don't think it's my (India) come back anyway, and secondly, I don't focus on my comeback. I focus on the game which I play. At the moment, I am playing IPL and will focus on IPL, then will see where the future takes me.

It's never in my hands now. I focus on the team in which I'm playing in. We are doing well, and I'm very happy," said Pandya in the post-match presentation ceremony after GT's clash with Kolkata Knight Riders.

Pandya was at his absolute best against KKR. The all-rounder smashed his third fifty in a row to lead Gujarat Titans to an eight-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders.
