Shubman Gill has been phenomenal so far in the ODI series against the Windies. Smashing a total of 205 runs in the 3-match series, comprising of a 64, 43 and 98*. Shikhar Dhawan, who was named the captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma expressed his opinion on the highest run-scorer in the series so far.

What the skipper has to say

"He seems to have a lot of time the way he bats. Good to see that he scored 98 today. He knew how to convert those fifties into 90s,”

"The ways the boys are responding, they are young but are quite mature and sensible. They can handle the pressure quite nicely. Thanks to our domestic cricket and IPL because of that exposure, the transition to international cricket becomes quite easy. ’Hats off to all the boys. They have been very disciplined and quite practical.”

India in desperate need of Gill's consistency

The Indian batting lineup has certainly lacked consistency and depth owing to veteran Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's poor form. With the T20 World Cup approaching, India needs to look towards batters who can stabilise the pillars of the Indian batting lineup.
