With the intriguing Caribbean Premier League 2022 edition, the team's player acquisitions and drafting are in full swing. Defending champions, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, have recently announced the list of the retained and overseas players picked in the draft. The team has made four overseas signings, with two players from the Proteas, one emerging player from Afghanistan and the top-notch Sri Lankan spin wizard.
Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner who has shown the calibre with his spin through the recent IPL edition and the T20 World Cup in UAE, can benefit the team from his mind-boggling bowling. Hasaranga will be available after the Patriots' first few games; to fill the void, the Pakistani off-spinner Qasim Akram will be with the team until he arrives. Earlier this year, in the Caribbean, Akram captained the Pakistan team that competed in the U19 Cricket World Cup.
The team has also signed two South African players known for their recent performances. Dewald Brevis, who was the second-highest run-getter in the U-19 World Cup 2022, and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius were the team's new signings. In addition, Izharulhaq Naveed, an Afghan leg spinner, will join the Patriots for his first appearance in the CPL 2022.
The announcement for the remaining overseas spot is expected to take place in the coming weeks. In addition, they have five more vacancies in the squad that they will be filling through the CPL 2022 player draft show, which will happen on July 7.
