Harry Brook and Dom Leech sign new contracts with Yorkshire County Club

Talented batter Harry Brook and bowler Dom Leech have signed new contracts and committed their long-term futures to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

After the departure of senior players like Tom Kohler Cadmore and David Willey, the cricket fans and the management will have breathed a sigh of relief with this announcement.

Brook has signed a new five-year contract, which will keep him at Headingley until the end of 2027.

"I'm delighted to extend my contract with Yorkshire and hope I can contribute to a lot of wins in the coming years," said Brook.

"Yorkshire is my home club, and I'd love nothing more than to help bring some silverware to Headingley."

Brook has been one of the finest players for the Yorks in recent years and has made his way to the England national team while making his T20I debut against West Indies earlier this year.

In eight matches of the 2022 edition of T20 Blast, Brook has amassed 282 runs at a strike rate of 161.14, with three fifties. He also donned the leadership role for Yorks in their recent fixture against Derbyshire, wherein the 23-year-old slammed 77 off 50 balls.

The 23-year-old is the leading run-scorer for White Roses in the 2022 edition of County Championship Division One with 926 runs in 11 innings at a staggering average of 115.75, with three tons and six fifties.

Although he has not been a part of the XI in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, Brook is an integral part of the Three Lions squad.

On the other hand, Leech is confirmed to be staying with Yorkshire until October 2024. He made his debut in 2020 but missed most of the 2021 season due to injury concerns. However, the 21-year-old has returned to full fitness this season.

In the ongoing Blast, Leech has scalped five wickets in three appearances at an economy of 6.57, with the best figures of 3/13 against Derbyshire.

"I'm really pleased to have signed a contract extension with Yorkshire and committed my future to the club," said Leech.

"I've had a great taste of first-team cricket over the last few years and want to push for a permanent spot in all squads."
