Harmanpreet Kaur becomes second Indian woman to cross 3000 runs in ODI cricket

Harmanpreet Kaur has become just the second Indian woman to cross 300 runs in ODI Cricket. The 33-year-old achieved this feat after she scored 44 runs in the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Friday. The first Indian woman to cross 3000 runs in ODI Cricket was Mithali Raj, who ended her career with 7805 runs in the same format.

Mithali Raj is currently the all-time top run-getter in Women’s ODI cricket, and it will take some effort for Harmanpreet Kaur to reach that figure. Harmanpreet has taken over the full-time captaincy in all three formats and has guided India to a T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Recently, the Indian skipper also passed Mithali Raj to become India’s all-time top run-getter in T20I Cricket. In the 50-over format, Harmanpreet Kaur has amassed 3026 runs at an average in the mid-30s and a strike rate of just over 70. She has four centuries and 15 half-centuries to her name in this format.

Her best innings in ODI cricket came against Australia in the 2017 ICC World Cup. The Indian batter scored an unbeaten knock of 171 runs, guiding her side to the finals of the marquee event.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been in impressive form off-late. She was adjudged as the player of the series in the T20Is against Sri Lanka. Her knock of 44 runs in the first ODI set up the win for Team India, as the visitors claimed a narrow four-wicket victory.

India will look to seal the three-match ODI series on Monday as the two sides lock horns again in Pallekele.
