Popular cricket stars Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan, Rahul Tewatia and Mohit Sharma have been summoned by CID according to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror. The report has revealed that the Gujarat Titans players have been summoned by Gujarat CID Crime in connection with relation to ₹450 crore chit-fund scam.

How Is Shubman Gill involved in the ₹450 crore chit-fund scam?

Bhupendrasinh Zala, CEO of BZ Financial Services, BZ Traders, and BZ Group of Companies, orchestrated a massive scam by luring investors with promises of high returns and prizes. Bhupendrasinh has been accused in a ₹450 crore chit-fund scam and has been labelled as the 'kingpin of Ponzi scheme' by several news reports.

He opened offices across several districts in Gujarat, including Talod, Himmatnagar, and Vadodara, and activated agents to collect money from investors. Zala collected ₹6,000 crore through financial transactions involving ICICI and IFC banks, amounting to ₹175 crore.

Gill, Sudarshan To Help Take Investigations Further

Zala, has not returned the money invested by Shubman Gill, Sudarshan and other cricketers and hence they have been summoned in order to investigate the matter further in a quest to retrieve there lost funds.

As quoted by Free Press Journal: "According to the CID officials, as reported by Ahmedabad Mirror, Gill, captain of the IPL team Gujarat Titans invested ₹1.95 crore, while the others had put in significantly smaller amounts. The authorities revealed that they will be called in for questioning depending upon their availability."

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the truth in these reports, this piece only throws light at the on-going fiasco surrounding the Indian cricket players.
