In a significant development, Riyan Parag is all set to make his much-anticipated return from a shoulder injury as he will lead Assam in their final Ranji Trophy league fixture against Saurashtra. The 23-year-old all-rounder has been sidelined since October 2024, and will be  eager to regain his form and fitness after undergoing surgery. He was injured during India’s third T20I against Bangladesh in 2024. 

Riyan Parag Set To Make A Comeback 

It is important to mention that, Riyan Parag’s absence was keenly felt, as he missed several  series which also include India’s series against South Africa and England. His return to action will be seen as a significant boost, as he will wish to reclaim his place in the Indian team as soon as possible.  

Parag's return will also benefit Assam in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Assam is going through a difficult time in the tournament as they languishing at the bottom of the Elite Group D table, with no wins in six matches. It is important to note that, Parag’s comeback comes at a crucial time as Assam will look to salvage some pride in their final league fixture. 

Riyan Parag’s Ranji Trophy 2023-24 Season

Riyan Parag's had an exceptional Ranji Trophy season in 2023-24, he made 378 runs in six innings at an average of 75.60 and a strike rate of 113.85. 

For Parag, the Ranji Trophy also presents an opportunity to showcase his readiness for international cricket. A strong performance here could serve as a stepping stone for his return to the Indian team.
