Good News For Fans! Delhi Metro Extends Last Train Timings For DC's IPL Home Games

Delhi Metro has decided to extend its service to cater to the public in the wake of IPL matches at Arun Jaitley Stadium. What seems to have come as a breather for the Delhi fans, will also ease out crowded metros for non-spectators too.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will operate 76 additional trains on match days at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The extended services, applicable on April 13, 16, 27, 29, and May 11, aim to reduce road traffic and encourage public transport use.

DMRC’s Plan to Manage Rush During IPL Games

In their official social media handle, Delhi Metro shared the news of extended service on April 11.

"To facilitate the spectators during the T-20 matches of Indian Premier League scheduled to be played on 13th, 16th, 27th & 29thApril and 11th May 2025 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Feroz Shah KotlaGround, New Delhi, the Delhi Metro has made changes in its last train timings on all Lines (including Airport Express Line). The stadium is adjacent to Delhi Gate/ITO Metro stations on the Violet Line i.e.Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh corridor (Violet Line)."

Highlighting the initiative, DMRC stated, “In anticipation of the sudden rush expected at these nearby Metro stations after the match is over, the Delhi Metro will be performing 76 extra train trips on match day by extending its last train timings by about 01–02 Hours on all Lines. This will enable spectators to reach their destinations smoothly by using the Metro.”

The move aligns with Delhi Capitals’ strong home-game schedule, as Axar Patel’s team looks to maintain momentum. Delhi Capitals, unbeaten in four matches, lead the IPL 2025 standings after victories in Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ inconsistent form adds urgency to their campaign, making the upcoming fixture a critical test.
