Give him wings and he will fly: Former England pacer heaps praise on Rishabh Pant

Darren Gough MBE has reckoned that Rishabh Pant has shown his adaptability to perform well in the red and white-ball cricket, with regards to his performance in England series

Pant was the top scorer for India in a one-off Test match with 203 runs. He then hit a miraculous ton in the final ODI and stitched a 133-run partnership with Hardik Pandya, which helped the team to seal a series victory.

The 24-year-old stockpiled 125 runs in three innings and was the best batter among the players of both teams in the 50-overs format.

Darren Gough feels this has been a big year for Pant

The 51-year-old lauded the ability of Pant to score runs all around the park. Gough further added that the wicket-keeper is having a dream run this year in international cricket.

"Ever since we have seen him burst onto the scene, he is just one of those players who can play 360 degrees, the new breed of cricketers that we are seeing around the world now," said Gough.

"He has shown the world how good he is in all formats. Not just red-ball, in white-ball as well. This has been a big year for Pant."

Class always comes back: Darren Gough

The former English pacer thinks Pant is a gifted cricketer and wants Team India to give him license to play his natural game and score runs. Gough concluded by terming Pant as a player of top quality.

"I don't know why he was criticised. You can tell he is a gifted cricketer. This guy, give him wings and he will fly. And he has done. It is a no-brainer that he will score runs."
