The tourists had a golden chance to seal the series at Lord's itself but the familiar failures of their batsmen against the moving ball- especially against left-arm pace- and the inability of the middle-order to stem the slide proved to be their undoing as Reece Topley ran past their batting unit to register his career-best figures.
With conditions favouring the bowlers, England probably got 20 too many but given how India batted, it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
One of the major differences between the two sides at the Lord's was the depth in their respective batting-unit. David Willey's handy knock of 41 while batting at No.8 and his partnership with Moeen Ali being a case in point.
India may look to bolster their lower-order batting by adding all-rounder Shardul Thakur. In that case, Prasidh Krishna could be the likely casualty.
