Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif criticises MS Dhoni for his catching skills

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is renowned for his quick hands behind the wickets despite not being the most technically sound wicketkeeper.  Dhoni ranked third (829) in the list of most dismissals behind Mark Boucher (998) and Adam Gilchrist (905) and found himself on the receiving end of former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif's critique.

Latif on MS Dhoni

"Dhoni was a batsman-wicketkeeper. Obviously, Dhoni is a very big name. But if I go into stats, his dropping percentage is 21 percent, which is huge, huge.

“You can't use my record because this particular record came into being from 2002 or 2003. We had already played by then. Adam Gilchrist had percentage of only 11, Mark Boucher was very good. Australia's Tim Paine started well but towards the end dropped a lot of catches."

Quinton de Kock is superb: Latif

Latif, who has 350 dismissals from 203 appearances for Pakistan, spoke about who he finds the best in the current generation, with an abundance of keeper-batters like Jos Buttler, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammad Rizwan amongst others.

“If you look at the best in last 15 years, then I would say Quinton de Kock is superb, has kept in all three formats and batted at the top of the order in white ball cricket."

Quinton de Kock is sixth in the list of most dismissals as a keeper, with 496, including 459 catches and 37 stumps.
