MI Emirates have unveiled its coaching staff for the upcoming ILT20 2024 season. Robin Singh, a familiar face in the Mumbai Indians' family since 2010, is set to lead the charge as the Head Coach. Singh, with his significant contributions to Mumbai Indians' five IPL victories and two Champions League campaigns, brings a wealth of experience to the forefront.
Notably, he served as the General Manager of MI Emirates during the inaugural season of the ILT20 in 2023.
Joining Singh in this cricketing venture are seasoned professionals Ajay Jadeja and Mitchell McClenaghan. Jadeja, the former Indian captain, steps into the role of Batting Coach, leveraging his extensive expertise as a player, coach, and mentor.
Meanwhile, McClenaghan, who made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2015 and clinched four titles with the One Family, transitions seamlessly from player to Bowling Coach.
The coaching ensemble also retains the valuable contributions of Vinay Kumar as Assistant Coach and James Franklin as Fielding Coach, both of whom played integral roles in the previous season. Their continuity ensures a smooth transition and consistency in the coaching setup.
Adding to the excitement, MI Emirates recently named Nicholas Pooran, the explosive West Indian wicketkeeper-batter, as their new captain for the upcoming season. Pooran takes the captaincy from the seasoned Kieron Pollard, under whose leadership MI Emirates secured a commendable third-place finish in the previous edition.
The team's journey in ILT20 2024 kicks off with an away game in Dubai on the 20th of January, promising fans a riveting start to the season. Pooran, having previously led MI New York to victory in the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) edition in the United States, brings leadership experience that aligns with the team's ambitions.
