Fawad Ahmed expressed his desire to coach Pakistan in upcoming T20 WC

Australian spinner Fawad Ahmed has expressed his desire to coach any team. While speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Fawad opened up about his future plans regarding coaching.

"I have 12-14 years of experience in Australia, and I am fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages for spinners in such conditions. I am available to act as a spin consultant for the duration of the World Cup, be it for Pakistan or any other team. It will also be hugely beneficial for my personal growth too," Fawad was quoted as saying by CricketPakistan.

"There is always a transition period from being a player and then becoming a coach. However, I wanted to start the process alongside and I have already gone through the various coaching sessions with younger players as they are easier to train."

Fawad cleared that he's not planning to retire any time soon as he's interested in playing franchise cricket for another two-three years at least.

"There aren't many leg-spin coaches across the globe, but I want to play franchise cricket for at least 2-3 more years before I get into coaching," he added.

Fawad recently toured Pakistan with the Australian team as their spin consultant for a historic tour consisting of three Tests, as many ODIs and a one-off T20I.

"It was a great experience for me to be associated with the Australian side as a spin consultant. This was the first time I got to see how planning happens behind the door because, as a player, you don't get to witness these things. So, it was a huge plus point for myself," Fawad said.
