As per the latest emerging reports, swashbuckling Pakistani top-order batter Fakhar Zaman is set to be ruled out from the upcoming T20 World Cup Down Under due to a sustained injury.

The news was surfaced by none other than former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the legendary ex-keeper revealed that Fakhar has developed a knee injury, which could see him being out of action for four to six weeks. Therefore, the left-handed batter will most likely miss the flight to Australia.

"Fakhar Zaman won’t be part of the team (for the T20 World Cup). He has suffered a knee injury and could be out for four to six weeks. He might have to be in rehab for a month, I guess. From what I know, it is a similar injury to what Shaheen Afridi suffered. Let’s hope that he recovers soon.”

Notably, Fakhar, who has been Pakistan's number three batter for quite a while now, has failed to crack the role to perfection. The 32-year-old had a horrendous Asia Cup 2022 campaign, managing only 96 runs at an abysmal average of 16 and a mediocre strike rate of 103.23.

If he fails to recover from the injury in time, it will be interesting to see whom Pakistan pick as their number three heading to the showpiece event.
