Michael Bracewell To Lead NZ In Pakistan ODIs
Recently, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced a formidable squad for the three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Initially, Tom Latham was set to lead the hosts, having been named the captain of the side.
However, the NZC released an official statement, confirming Latham's non-participation this morning. The veteran batter was hit right on his hand while batting in the nets. An X-ray revealed a fracture, and the batter will need at least four weeks for recovery.
Henry Nicholls has been added to the squad as Latham's replacement. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell, who captained New Zealand in the five-match T20I series, will lead the team in Latham's absence.
Will Young To Miss Last 2 ODIs, Rhys Mariu Gets Maiden Call-up
The board also disclosed that experienced opener Will Young will miss the final two ODIs in order to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. Promising batter Rhys Mariu receives his maiden call-up as Young's replacement for the last two games.
In 12 List-A matches, Rhys Mariu has scored 328 runs at an average of 27.3 and a strike rate of 81.2.
