English Cricket Club uses the Tinder platform to hire new members

When we talk about a job recruitment process, many people might remember LinkedIn or several job-searching and recruitment platforms. But, what if a dating app can become a job-recruitment platform for an organisation. Indeed, something weird to hear, but it has happened recently with a Club Cricket team.

Englefield Cricket Club, a Surrey cricket club, has found a unique yet weird way to recruit new members to their group. The Cricket Club had created an account on the famous dating app by posing as a 36-year-old woman by the name of George. The profile picture is of a pint of lager kept on the boundary of the field, with a match played in the background.

The unusual mode of recruitment was first spotted by a Twitter account by @ThatsSoVilliage.

The Twitter handle had posted the screenshot of that Tinder account. The screenshot consisted of the handle's name, profile picture, and a caption saying, "George, 36, looking for new players for Englefield Green cricket club." After the tweet was posted by that account, the Cricket Club's official Twitter handle had retweeted and said, "Let's goooooooo."

David Treherne, the Social Media Secretary of the Club, told the SurreyLive website that their Cricket Club were looking for some fresh players to the squad after the team lost five of their league matches consecutively at one moment of the tournament.

It has been a mixed bag of a month for the Cricket club, as they have played two matches over the Platinum Jubilee weekend. They have won against St John's Beaumont. But two days later that match, they lost against the Sutton Challengers

Though the account got suspended on the dating platform, the club was adamant and didn't limit it till there. As a result, the club has launched another account on the same lines but on a different dating platform.

And the result? The club was able to procure a person to train with them, and it has got a good amount of spotlight and attention from the social-media world.

"We've had lots of Indian news outlets emailing us asking for interviews. Now we're being inundated with people messaging us from India who wants to come over and play for our club!"

Treherne said to SurreyLive

So, their main intention would be to hop-in fresh members to their team's squad as they gear up for their upcoming weekend clashes and hope to have a winning stint with the new team.

On the 11th of June (Saturday), the club would face Worplesdon & Burpham. Also, they would be up for a showdown with Horley CC on the 12th of June (Sunday)
