ENG-W vs SA-W | England pacer Emily Arlott ruled out of South Africa Test

England women will play a one-off Test against South Africa at Taunton starting from Monday. England women will begin a new era of Test cricket after the retirement of Anya Shrubsole and Katherine Brunt.

The home side announced a 13-member strong squad for the Test match, including five potential debutants – Emily Arlott, Ema Lamb, Lauren Bell, Freya Davies, and Alice Davidson – Richards. In addition, Issy Wong was named in 13 as a travelling reserve.

England Cricket recently tweeted, “Emily Arlott has been ruled out of England Women’s Test match against South Africa and has been replaced in the squad by Issy Wong. Arlott is returning from COVID-19 but is still feeling the after-effects of the infection so has left the group and returned home.”

Right-arm seamer Emily Arlott is yet to make her international debut but was taken into international consideration last year as she was part of the squad for England’s home Test against India and played for England-A in the last Ashes series in Australia.

Her magnificent domestic performances for Central Sparks in Rachel Heyhoe Flint trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup gave her the opportunity to play at the international level but now has left the camp to recover.

Her fellow Central Sparks teammate, Issy Wong, has replaced Emily Arlott and could be a potential debutant along with Davies and Bell, who will now take charge of the pace attack.

The Tests will commence a multi-format series followed by three one-day Internationals and three T-20 Internationals. Four points will be awarded for winning the Test and two points each if it is a draw.
