ENG-W vs SA-W | England outclass South Africa in a dominant victory

What was expected to be a thrilling encounter turned out to be a one-sided affair, with England Women cruising over South Africa Women by six wickets. The first T20I between the two sides took place in Chelmsford, where England women chased down 112 in 15 overs to stamp their victory.

England’s bowling masterclass too good for Proteas

England women won the toss and put the visitors into bat. Laura Wolvaardt was the lone warrior for her side and racked up 55 runs. The rest of the team couldn’t do much, with Anneke Bosch being the only other to cross the double-digit score.

Thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Katherine Brunt, who fetched four wickets for 15 runs in an impressive spell of 4 overs. Additionally, Sophie Ecclestone’s another reliable performance of 2 for 27 ensured the Proteas were under check.

Dunkley’s decisive innings enough for the hosts

Sophia Dunkley’s outstanding 59 while opening the innings was enough for the batting side as they made merry of the chase. Ayabonga Khaka claimed both the wickets but a good partnership of 39 runs for the third wicket between Dunkley and Natalie Sciver took the game away from the Proteas

Brief Scores:

South Africa Women 111/9 (20 overs)

Laura Wolvaardt 55 (49), Anneke Bosch 18 (21)

Katherine Brunt 4/15 (4), Sophie Ecclestone 2/27 (4)

England Women 114/4 (15 overs)

Sophia Dunkley 59 (39), Heather Knight 24 (18)

Ayabonga Khaka 3/13 (4), Anneke Bosch 1/13 (1)
