Harmanpreet Kaur has credited the Indian bowlers for keeping the team in the game, despite falling a few runs short in the final fixture of the T20I series against England at Bristol.

After being put to bat first, India were off to a precarious start and they lost their swashbuckling openers, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. The lack of experience of Sabbhineni Meghana and Dayalan Hemalatha hurt the team in crunch moments.

Furthermore, skipper Kaur failed to continue her good run in the shortest format. However, knocks from Deepti Sharma (24) and Richa Ghosh (33) brought the Women in Blue back into the contest as they posted 122 on the board in the series decider.

Chasing a modest total, England started on a clinical note, with Sophia Dunkley (49) and Danielle Wyatt (22) as the contributors. However, the Indian bowlers pulled off three quick strikes of the openers along with captain Amy Jones.

Nevertheless, the in-form Alice Capsey slammed 38* off 24 to help England secure a T20I series victory.

Kaur praised Ghosh for her important contribution, which helped the bowlers make the match out of it.

"I think we were 20 runs short today, and credits to the bowlers because of which we were in the game. Yes, we want to have characters like that.

"Also, Richa batted well today. Because of her's knock, we got to the total for which we could fight. In any format of cricket, you need to have a decent number total. We need big partnerships, and any big partnership will always give us a good total to defend."
