Defending World Test Champions, New Zealand started their England campaign with a loss at Lord's in the first match of the series. However, New Zealand's all-rounder Jamieson believes that one loss is no reason to panic for the Kane Williamson-captained side and disturb a settled unit.
According to cricket.com, Jamieson said, "It's not just that game or those series. This team has done such a good job over a long period of time, and we're not going to panic after just one game,"
"We certainly know there were moments in that game we could've seized and been better in. We know if we do that, it will go a long way in trying to win this game and this series,"
Chasing a target of 277 runs, the Kiwis made inroads in the new-look England Test side but could not shake the immovable Joe Root, who stood his ground and scored a magnificent 115* to help the home side gain a 1-0 lead.
Speaking about Root, the former RCB player said, "He certainly batted pretty well. He was probably the difference in the game in the end. So we'll certainly go away and make some plans.
We've already had some conversations about how we want to attack him but also attack the rest of the batting as well. It's not about focusing on just him, you know, we'll try and take ten wickets, take 20 wickets, we'll just go about trying to do that."
Ever since making his debut, Jamieson has made an impact in international cricket with his performances, claiming 72 Test wickets in just 15 games.
Reflecting upon his showings, the pacer said that he is still learning and wants to win for the team, nothing more, nothing less.
"I'm just trying to learn and grow as a cricketer, and whatever those numbers spit out, they do. I'm just happy to be part of the side. Trying to play my part and just win Tests for this team. I think for me that's the main driver, the main focus and whatever that ends up as, it does," the Auckland-born stated.
He also spoke about how rankings do not bother him much.
"I'm reasonably realistic about where I am with my game. I don't necessarily think that numbers always give you the correct indication of where you're at, at a certain point in time. I'm just trying to grow, trying to get better, trying to improve my game and contribute to wins for the side. So those rankings will come out as they do," the 27-year-old concluded.
The second Test of the three-match series will commence on June 10 at Nottingham.
