ENG vs NZ | Kane Williamson rejoins New Zealand right before the final test

Williamson was ruled out of the second Test against England in Nottingham on Friday after testing positive for Covid-19 on the eve of the match. The Blackcaps stalwart undertook a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) after experiencing minor symptoms during the day and will now begin five days of isolation.

The official Twitter handle of New Zealand shared an update on Kane Williamson's availability. It seems like he's all set to return to the playing eleven for the final Test.

"Welcome back to captain Kane Williamson who has rejoined the Test tour party after recovering from Covid-19 & completing his isolation. The squad will have a few days off before heading to Leeds on Sunday to prepare for the 3rd Test," said an official release.

In other updates from the New Zealand camp, left-handed batter Devon Conway, all-rounder Michael Bracewell, team physio Vijay Vallabh and fitness coach Chris Donaldson have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Due to injuries, Kyle Jamieson and Cam Fletcher have already been ruled out of the series. Uncapped pacer Blair Tickner is most likely to come in place of Jamieson. Williamson will bat at three, and he'll come in place of Devon Conway, while Dane Cleaver is also expected to make his debut in the final Test of the series in Bracewell's place.

New Zealand have already lost the series as England is leading the series 2-0 and Williamson's comeback is a significant boost for the visiting side.

The inaugural World Test Championship-winning skipper failed to create any sort of impact with the bat as he could register scores of 2 and 15 in two innings in the first Test at Lord's. However, he'll be looking to end the series on a high and avoid a series whitewash against the Ben Stokes-led English team.
