Gloucestershire vs Hampshire


Gloucestershire opted to field first at their home ground, Bristol, against Hampshire. 


The Hampshire captain James Vince (15) confidently started his innings, but Mohammad Amir induced his edge, which wicket-keeper James Bracey caught. Then, the partnership between Ben McDermott and Tom Prest lasted 31 runs before Amir dismissed the latter for 12 off 10. 


Weatherley (17) and McDermott (50) were bowled by Tom Smith and David Payne, respectively, with the team at 103/4 in the 13th over. The knocks of James Fuller (22) and Liam Dawson (20*) helped the team finish on 178. For Gloucs, Ryan Higgins scalped three wickets. 


Then, Chris Wood took the wicket of Miles Hammond (0) in the second ball of the innings. It took a sensational catch from Scott Curie to dismiss Ian Cockbain (19), ending a 43-run stand with Chris Dent in the sixth over. In the next over, Fuller delivered an accurate ball to breach the defence of Dent (24). Wheal dismissed the experienced Glenn Phillips (5) as well. 


A terrific 64-run stand between Jack Taylor (37) and James Bracey (40) was ended with the latter getting holed out to long-off Nathan Ellis. Then Benny Howell (34*) tried well, but the team lost by nine runs. Both teams will meet again on July 1 at Southampton, which will be a must-win game for Gloucs.

Glamorgan vs Somerset 


The toss favoured Glamorgan, who chose to field first at Sophie Gardens, Cardiff. 


The in-form batters, Will Smeed (3), Tom Banton (0), and Rilee Rossouw (0), were dismissed cheaply by the Glamorgan bowlers. It took the innings from Tom Abell (26), Tom Lammonby (18*), and Ben Green (17) to help Somerset to post 76 in seven overs. Micheal Neser was the pick of the bowlers with three scalps for Glamorgan. 


In reply, the openers David Lloyd (1) and Sam Northeast (0) could not provide substantial contributions. Although Colin Ingram delivered a quickfire knock of 37* off 19 balls, they fell short by 16 runs. This win certainly helped Somerset to stake a claim in the first two spots of the South Group points table and qualify for the knock-outs.

Essex vs Surrey


Surrey won the toss and opted to bowl first at Chelmsford, but the match ultimately did not go their way. 


In the first ten overs, Feroze Khushi (23) and Micheal Pepper (48) built a partnership and helped the team score at a rate of around 10, with the latter as the aggressor. In the middle order, the knocks from Paul Walter (49) and Simon Harmer (29) propelled the team to post a total of 198 on the board. The experienced Reece Topley scalped four wickets for Surrey. 


In reply, Will Jacks (26) and Jamie Smith (30) did well but could not provide a quickfire start to Surrey. Then the contributions from Rory Burns (37) and Chris Jordan (34) helped the Surrey team to lessen the losing deficit, as they could only score 155 runs. For Essex, Aaron Beard registered his best T20 figures of 4/29 in four overs.

Kent vs Sussex


Kent opted to bowl first at their home ground, Canterbury, in the 12th group fixture against Sussex. 


The partnership of 73 between Harrison Ward (33) and Oli Orr (36) helped the Sussex team to have a strong start. Then Delray Rawlins continued his excellent form to contribute 28 and got the support from George Garton (31), which paved the way for the team to post 158 on the board. For Kent, Grant Stewart scalped three wickets. 


In reply, Joe Denly was terrific in the first half of Kent’s innings to smash 58 off 39 balls, comprising seven fours and two sixes. Then, the experienced campaigners, Sam Billings (43*) and Gorge Linde(24*), chased down the score with seven balls to spare. Although Kent are out of the race for quarters, Sussex have to win their remaining two games for the qualification.
