ENG vs NZ | 1st Test | Jack Leach suffers neck injury; withdrawn from the Test match

Ben Stokes started off his stint as England’s red-ball skipper under the aegis of Brendon McCullum as the Three Lions are up against New Zealand in the first Test match at Lord’s.

England had a flying start courtesy of Jimmy Anderson who picked up two early wickets within the first five overs, sending both Will Young and Tom Latham back to the dugout, with some help from Jonny Bairstow at third slip who snapped up two spectacular catches.

However, the team were left reeling after an injury scare as spinner Jack Leach tried to stop a boundary in the sixth over as he chased the ball towards deep fine leg, but could not control his momentum and crashed head first into the ground.

The team physio and medical staff quickly rushed in to provide the player with on-field treatment. While it looked like the injury is just a minor setback, Leach was seen taken out of the field, which could be bad news for the English side.

As of writing, New Zealand have been struck hard and are reeling at 12/4 losing Will Young, Tom Latham, Devon Conway, and skipper Williamson in the process.

As per the latest reports coming from the field, it was announced that Leach has gone through the concussion protocol and has been withdrawn from the game to avoid any further damage. While Matt Parkinson is named his concussion substitute.
