ENG vs IND | Pant replies to Tendulkar, Sehwag for their congratulatory tweets on his blitzkrieg knock of 146

Rishabh Pant's defining knock of 146 versus England at a crucial juncture of the match has been the talk of the town. Not just for his ability to accelerate at crucial junctures but to play some audacious shots that too against a hardened England side when the Indian team was struggling at 64 for 3, and soon after his arrival, India was reduced to 98/5 with Virat Kohli back in the pavilion.

Pant formed a solid partnership of 222 with Ravindra Jadeja to give India a consolidated advantage, with the day ending at 338/7.

The 24-year-old's knock included 4 sixes and 20 fours with most shots in his classic unorthodox way of going against the spinner using the feet and at times losing his balance, but still managing to clear the field with ease.

The star wicketkeeper from India achieved his fifth Test century at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, which is undoubtedly going to be one of his most memorable knocks.

Pant has been complimented by tons of fans on social media, two of them being the Indian greats Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Sehwag wrote on his timeline:

"Pant is in a league of his own. The most entertaining cricketer in the world, this is a special one." along with a scene from MS Dhoni's bollywood movie. To this, Pant replied, "@virendersehwag bhaiya.. love this. you are one of the greatest and one of the best."

Not just this, even Sachin congratulated Pant for his knock and said "Simply awesome @RishabhPant17! Well done. Crucial innings by @imjadeja. Rotated the strike well and played some amazing shots." To this, Pant simply replied, "Thank you @sachin_rt Sir".

The second day's play of the fifth Test has begun on a high note for the visiting Indians; first Jadeja stifled the Three Lions with his third Test ton before Jasprit punctured the home bowlers with his quickfire cameo of 31 off 16 deliveries. Besides that, the Indian skipper broke Alex Lees' shackles before rain stopped play in the first session.
