Ollie Robinson celebrated his return to Test cricket with his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He scalped five wickets for 85 runs in the first innings of the first Test against India in Nottingham.

He picked up the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and finished India’s innings with the wicket of Jasprit Bumrah to register his first fifer.

Notably, he was suspended for “historic” and “racist” tweets after making his debut against New Zealand.

He and James Anderson tried their best to stop India from running away with the game in the first innings, but their efforts could not stop them from taking a big lead of 95 runs.

KL Rahul missed his century but top-scored with 84 and was aptly supported by Ravindra Jadeja, who brought a perfect mixture of caution and aggression in his half-century.

India got into big trouble after an impressive start by Rohit and Rahul but the rearguard action from the batsmen lower down the order put their nose in front of England in the game.

England could only manage 183 runs in the first innings and they will have to bring their best game with the bat in the second innings to stop India from winning the game and taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match long Test series.

James Anderson reaches 620-wicket mark, surpasses Kumble on list of leading wicket-takers

James Anderson has surpassed Anil Kumble on the list of leading wicket-taker in Tests in the first Test against India in Nottingham. He dismissed KL Rahul by edging through to the keeper to reach the 620 wickets mark in the longest format of the game. Former Indian leg spinner had 619 Test wickets to his name. Anderson now stands behind just Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne on the list of leading wicket-takers. Warne has 708 Test wickets in his career while Muralitharan sits comfortably at an unattainable height of 800 Test wickets. Anderson has also become the most successful pace bowler to have ever played the game. He has 620 wickets to his name, which is significantly higher than any pacer in the history of the game. Anderson has scalped 620 wickets at a phenomenal average of 26.61 and strike rate of 56.31 till the wicket of KL Rahul on the third day. He has bagged 30 five-wicket hauls and 3 ten-wicket hauls in his 163-match long Test career. Rahul was Anderson’s third scalp of the innings as he had already dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli on the second day of the Test. Zimbabwe tour of Ireland to begin on August 27

Zimbabwe’s tour of Ireland that was initially slated to begin on August 6 has now been rescheduled and will start on August 27. The rescheduling of the tour has been done on the advice of Ireland’s health authorities. "There has been a great deal of behind-the-scenes work on pulling together a revised playing programme since the earlier series postponement, but thanks to the support of Provincial Unions and various hosting clubs, we have managed to create a schedule that meets the evolving requirements of health and sporting authorities," Ireland's High Performance cricket director Richard Holdsworth said in the statement. The first T20Is of the series will take place in Clontarf while the other three will be played in Bready. The ODI matches will be held in Stormont. Zimbabwe will spend the first ten days of their tour training and playing in the Republic under biosecure protocols. "In order to meet quarantining requirements in both jurisdictions, the visiting side will spend the first ten days of their tour training and playing in the Republic under biosecure protocols, then the two sides can then move to Northern Ireland to complete the series," Holdsworth said. Zimbabwe had recently suffered a 0-3 defeat against Bangladesh in ODIs at home and have also failed to qualify for the World T20 slated to take place later this year.
