From the time the Asia Cup 2025 schedule was revealed, there has been huge chatter around the India vs Pakistan match to be held on the 14th of September. Given the recent geopolitical tension between the two countries, the discussion around the game is gaining even more traction.

One thing is for sure: the players in this match will be judged more for their behaviour and gestures than their performance. If the recent incident around the captains' press conference of the Asia Cup 2025 was an indication, the players will have to be very careful about how they act and carry themselves around their opposition.

Ahead of the opening match of the tournament, the captains gathered for a press conference. From the time the presser started, the eyes of the fans were on how Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha reacted and behaved with each other. Rumours were circulating that the two skippers did not shake hands or exchange cordialities during the event. However, a few videos later surfaced on the social media where Surya and Salman were seen shaking hands for a split second after the event.

Air Cleared Around The Handshake Between Surya And Salman

Journalist Ruturaj Borkakoty, who was present during the event, has spoken about the incident. While speaking to Sports Today, he revealed:

"A big number of journalists arrived, mostly from India. Very few from Pakistan, many more from Bangladesh than from Pakistan, very few from Sri Lanka as well. I saw a very cordial press conference, actually. I really don't think that we should make too much out of it because there was a very brief moment after that press conference was over, as the captains were leaving the stage, and Surya was trying to get to the backside of the conference room, and when Salman Agha shook his hands."

He further said: "I saw videos of it as well, and I have heard about the reactions from people on social media, and I'm quite surprised, actually, at what else you were expecting to do. I mean you are meeting a player that you are going to play and captain of the opposition team in a few days' time."

The tension is palpable, and the atmosphere is charged. The fans will be glued to the game when India and Pakistan take on each other on the 14th of September, 2025.
