The Division Two of the ongoing 2022 County Championship continued with three matches on Thursday, July 28. As another week goes by, here is a look at how each of the three games panned out.

Worcestershire vs Derbyshire

Worcestershire crumbled in their Day 4 run-chase, falling 98 runs short of their target. Resuming the final day at 108-5, the hosts only managed to extend their total to 190.

Derbyshire’s Anuj Dal claimed a five-fer to add on to his unbeaten ton and a handy 55 from his side’s first innings.

Middlesex lost their final three wickets for just an additional 38 runs as they folded up for 455 early on Day 4. Durham batters batted out the remaining 55 overs of the day before players shook hands for a draw.

Nottinghamshire vs Sussex

Nottinghamshire added just 17 more runs to their overnight score to set a 399-run target for Sussex.

In response, the Sussex batters managed just 142 in their decisive innings, thus replicating their first-innings effort. In both cases, interim skipper Cheteshwar Pujara top-scored for the side with the 40s, while opener Alistair Orr became the next best scorer with 34 in each innings.

Nottinghamshire’s speed recruits Dane Paterson and James Pattinson claimed three wickets each to add to their five-wicket hauls from the first innings.
