It has come as a shocker for Indian fans as just ahead of the start of the Test series against England, all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the series. After Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, Sundar is now the third injury-related rule out from the 19 men strong Indian squad. Sundar and Avesh, both were playing for the Select County XI against India in a three-day practice game at the Riverside Stadium in Durham and both injured their fingers in the same game. While Avesh was taken off the ground later declared ruled out of the series by BCCI in a tweet, Sundar’s news was confirmed on Thursday, July 22. Although on the third day of the game, Sundar was still seen fielding and hence it became difficult to ascertain what level of injury is he suffering from. News Wire service ANI earlier reported that the 21-year-old spin bowling all-rounder would be ruled out for at least six weeks. Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has lauded the Indian team management for nurturing the young talents and focusing on the U19 and ‘A’ teams. "Pakistan cricket has suffered a lot because of no international cricket at home but India has done the right thing by investing on its under-19 and A team tours. I remember I was working in England for like four summers and once in Australia and every year I saw some Indian team touring those countries," Saqlain said in an interview as quoted by news agency PTI. Pakistan recently suffered defeats in both T20Is and ODIs against England away from home while the Indian team that is being led by Shikhar Dhawan against Sri Lanka took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series in Colombo.
